Comparing Covers and Tables modes

TableGo offers two ways to manage capacity: Covers Mode and Tables Mode.

Covers Mode (Simple)

Best for: Cafes, casual dining, bars

How it works:

  • Set total capacity (e.g., 50 covers)
  • TableGo tracks total guests per time slot
  • No individual table assignment
  • Guests book party size, you seat them where appropriate

Tables Mode (Advanced)

Best for: Fine dining, fixed layouts, reservation-heavy venues

How it works:

  • Create individual tables with capacities
  • Each booking assigned to specific tables
  • Visual timeline shows table availability
  • Supports joined tables for large parties

Switching Modes

Navigate: Settings → Basic Information → Reservation Method

Select "Covers" or "Tables" and save. Existing bookings remain unchanged.

Switching modes affects how new bookings are handled. Consider doing this during a quiet period.

Which Should I Choose?

Choose Covers if you want quick setup, flexible seating, and simpler management. Choose Tables if you need precise capacity control, visual floor planning, and better handling of large parties.
