Guest marketing consent

How guests opt in to your offers, where you see it, and how to record that someone opted out

Guests can choose to hear about your offers when they book, buy a gift voucher or buy event tickets. TableGo records who opted in, when and where, so you only send marketing to guests who agreed.

How guests opt in#

  • Booking — Keep me updated with offers from your venue, on your website and your TableGo page
  • Gift vouchers and event tickets — Send me offers and updates from your venue, at checkout

The box always starts unticked, so a guest opts in only by ticking it. Once they have, they stay opted in: leaving the box unticked next time doesn't remove their consent.

Where to find it

GuestsConsent column

The Consent column shows Yes or No for each guest. Hover over Yes to see when they opted in and where: Booking, Voucher or Event. A guest's details show the same under Contact Information. You can hide the column from the table settings (gear) menu.

Voucher and event buyers who opted in appear in Guests even if they've never booked, with 0 visits, so everyone you may email is in one place.

When a guest opts out#

If a guest asks you to stop sending them offers, in person, by phone or by email, record it in TableGo:

  1. 1

    Open the guest's details

From Guests, or by clicking the guest's name in a reservation.

  2. 2

    Click Withdraw next to Consent

It's there while the guest is opted in.

  3. 3

    Click Withdraw consent

Owners, Managers and Staff can do this.

You should see: Marketing consent withdrawn. Consent shows No, with the date it was withdrawn.

TableGo keeps when and where the guest first opted in, and records the withdrawal next to it. Your team can't opt a guest in: they opt in again only by ticking the box when they next book or buy.

Tip

When someone unsubscribes in Mailchimp or another email tool, withdraw their consent in TableGo too, so your next export doesn't add them back.

Export for email marketing#

Guests → Export → Export CSV (email marketing) downloads every guest that matches your filters, with Marketing consent (Yes or No), Marketing consent at, Marketing consent source and Marketing consent withdrawn at.

Important

The export includes guests who didn't opt in or who withdrew. Delete every row where Marketing consent is No before you import the list into Mailchimp or another email tool.
